Backpacking the Superstitions, Day 3
Breakfast at camp
Back to the real world. After a windy breakfast we broke camp and finished our baby-rattle shaped trip with a new route back along the Dutchman Trail.
A man and his horse
Not much to report on today but it was another beautiful hike. Finally saw some folks with horses today.
We saw a lot of birds in this trip! We positively identified visually:
- Ladder-backed woodpecker
- Gambel’s quail
- Cardinal
- White crowned sparrow
- Black-tailed gnatcatcher
- Curve-billed thrasher
- Cactus wren
- Black-throated sparrow
- Canyon towhee
- Anna’s hummingbird
- Rock wren
Heard but not seen were two great horned owls. Really tried to find them as they called out to our campsite both nights.
