Canyon View Trail at Whitewater Preserve

Julie and I explored more up valley to the north today, starting with the Canyon View Trail outside of Palm Springs.

The trail is part of the Whitewater Preserve, a small oasis in an otherwise desolate canyon.

Desolate is probably too harsh a word as the west slopes and ridges were full of green with wildflowers emerging. Most abundant are the daisy like brittlebush flowers, with scatterings of California poppy.

For a brief period the trail overlaps with the PCT. We found ourselves wondering if this is a likely time to see thru hikers working their way through Southern California.
