Near Beers

Julie and I have garnered a lot of non-alcoholic beer experience over the past 2-3 years.

I did dry January in 2020 and 2021, and Julie and I have tried to keep a norm of not drinking Monday through Wednesday each week. We’ve tried about everything we can find on the shelves. Julie’s cheap near beer favorite is Bush NA; my favorite mainstream brand is Heineken 0.0.

There are some nouveau brands out there that are making some great products. Our favorite single NA beer is Upside Dawn by Athletic Brewing; their other offerings are good too. At least the ones we’ve tried. We are in search of more.

I also like the Brooklyn Brewery Special Effects Hoppy Amber. IPAs started to rub me wrong in the last year or two (problems sleeping, some allergies) and it will be interesting to see if NA options have the same effect.
